Oct 07 2008 11:44AM URS GLENWOOD SPRINGS 9709422259 p.2 October 3, 2008 Mr. Don Berger 713 Cooper Avenue Glenwood Springs, CO 81601 RE: As -Built On-site Wastewater System (OWS), Berger Residence at 4451 G.R. 117, Garfield County, Colorado, , SE Job No. 27090.01 Dear Don: Pursuant to County Regulations, this letter provides documentation that the new Onsite Wastewater System (OWS) recently installed is in general compliance with the permitted design. Sopris Engineering has documented the aa built conditions of the constructed system, We have coordinated our efforts with the property owner and system installer. The system was inspected prior to backfilling and after component installations were complete. The as. built conditions and installation of the new OWS components is in compliance with the permitted design specifications for the system. The as -built size and performance specifications of the new OWS system aro In compliance with the specifications on the design drawing. The System was installed in accordance with State and County Regulations; the design presented in the Sopris Engineering design drawing ,specifications and details, dated May 24, 2007. The septic tank was installed adjacent to the north side of the house. A 2500 -gallon dual compartment concrete septic tank was installed with an effluent filter installed in the outlet tee and risers with lids to the surface. A new gravity line from the house to the tank was installed. A cleanout was installed adjacent to the side tank inlet port. The absorption field was constructed with 1 bed containing 4 rows with a total of 42 Elgen In -Drain units was placed in the bed over 12 inches of filter sand. A distribution box was installed next to the field to distribute effluent, to the perforated laterals in each row, via individual 4" distribution lines connected at the head of each each row. Flow regulators are installed on each outlet port to allow equal distribution &effluent to each row in the bed. Inspection ports were installed at each corner end and each terminal end of the perforated distribution pipes. The individual trenches were installed level with 12" of concrete sand overlying suitable native soils below the.In- Drain units. Four -inch perforated distribution pipes run along the top center of the 1n -drain units in each trench: The In -drain units are installed per manufacturer's requirements. The top and sidewalls of the treatment units, sand layer and distribution pipe is installed in a filter fabric envelope. The trenches are backfilled over the In -Drain units to a slightly mounded finish grade approximately 18"-36" above the distribution pipe. The construction was completed utilizing specified materials installed according to design. The constructed field is being revegetated. OWS Operation and Maintenance All components of the engineered OWS shall be inspected on a regular basis and be properly maintained, The re establishment of vegetative cover over the field and responsibility for operation, inspection and maintenance of the system will remain with the Lot Owner or the owners representative. The owner shall periodically inspect the OWS and perform all maintenance and repairs as necessary to ensure that the system is in good operating condition and performing as designed. The OWS should require minimal maintenance. Several factors influencing the need for maintenance include: actual wastewater flows versus design flows, the volume of kitchen/domestic waste (excluding 502 Main Street • Suite A3 • Carbondale, CO 81623 • (970) 704-0311 • Fax (970) 704-0313 SOPNIS ENGINEERING • LLC civil consultants Oct 07 2008 11:44AM URS GLENWOOD SPRINGS 9709422259 p.3 Don Berger SE Job No. 27090.01 October 3, 2008 Page 2 human waste and toilet paper), excessive household chemicals and other toxic liquids. The tank, sanitary tees and effluent filter should be visually inspected bi-annually for clogging debris, damage, leaks, or other potential problems. In general, for a properly utilized system, septic tanks should be pumped and inspected every 2 - 4 years. The effluent filter should be cleaned every six months and at the time of pumping, Absorption fields should be maintained with suitable vegetative cover and kept free of root invasive plants. Positive surface drainage away from the absorption field should be maintained, If you have any questions or need any additional information, please call. Sincerely, SOPRIS ENGINEERING, LLC Paul E.
