Percolation and soil tests were performed on the subject property November 6 & 7, 2003 and
again on November 20 & 21, 2003 for the proposed Dry Well System.
A Soil Profile hole was excavated to a total depth of 12'-6" and contains the following profile (top
to bottom):
8" Mechanical fill, Class 6 aggregate base
10" Top soil
24" Rocky Silty Sandy Clay, Yi' to 2" rocks
12" Rocky Silty Clay, 4" rocks, fairly cemented
96"+ Silty Sandy Clay, medium brown, consistent texture.
No Evidence of High Groundwater Levels, adjacent wash (150' west) is greater than 20' deep
along adjacent property line.
The soil profile in the percolation test trench near the concrete slab (1 O' deep) showed the same
profile without the 12" Rocky, (4") cemented lens. The soils near the bottom of the trench were
sandy clays.
Design Flow
The existing building contains two floors with office and retail space, respectively. Two full-time
employees on each floor at 75 gallons per day per person == 300 gallons per day. Peaking
factor== 1.5, therefore, a total design flow of 450 gallons per day will be used.
Dry Well Design
The percolation rate used for design == 40 minutes per inch, with Q == 450 gpd; results in 570
square feet of surface area required. The proposed Dry Well contains 624 square feet of
absorption area (12x12 == 144 SF bottom; 4(12x10) = 480 SF sides; Total= 624 SF).
