Box 1524 Glenwood Springs, CO 81602 RE: As -Built OWS System, Lot 1.6, Homestead Estates, Homestead Road, Garfield, CO SE Job No. 25159.01 Dear Brian: Pursuant to County Regulations, this letter provides documentation that the new OWS system recently installed is in general compliance with the permitted design. Sopris Engineering has performed site visits to measure, inspect, and document the as built conditions of the constructed system. The system was inspected prior to backfilling and after all installations were completed. The as -built conditions and installation of the new OWS components is in compliance with the permitted design specifications for the system. The septic tank, distribution pipe, and absorption field installations are in accordance with Canfield County Regulations, the design presented in the Sopris Engineering design drawing, dated July 1, 2005. A 1250 gallon dual compartment concrete septic tank was installed with 4" tee baffles and an effluent filter. The absorption field was constructed with a total of 72 Quick -4 Infiltrator leaching chambers in a trench configuration with (3) 98' long trenches containing 24 chambers each. The chambers were backfilled with native soil and/or screened rock to the top of the chambers, and backfilled to the finished surface grade with native soil. Each trench was installed level. Inspection ports were installed on each end chamber. The chambers were installed in the native clay and gravel soils over 6" of concrete sand consistent across the field. Each row of ct ambers was installed with a 4" perforated distribution pipe running the length of the trench. The field has individual distribution lines, from a concrete distribution box, connected to the head of each trench. The distribution box was installed level on cr_mpacted ground at an invert above the to of the chambers. The minimum setback distances have been maintained. The 3 trenches have a separation distance of approximately 6 feet and are installed approximately 2 to 3.5 feet deep relative to the existing grades. Additional observations of the soils within the field were performed during construction indicating that the soils are consistent with the reported descriptions. A minimum 6 inches of sand was placed in the trenches to mitigate the presence of cobbles and enhance treatment of the effluent. No ground water was encountered in any of the excavations on site. 502 5 ;; uui uu.ipVY•Y, VV ndi 1.1.111% ln. q/t. 1 r. ,It>I'1 >r.. n3-3 SonRIS ENGINEERING • RRC cirii cosi.JItants 01/27122005 12:18 970-704-0313 SOPRIS ENGINEERING PAGE 02 Brian Boettcher SE Job No. 25159.01 Octet& 20. 2005 Page 2 OWS Operation auQ t1llaintenance The owner shall periodical{y inspect the OWS, perform any mamtenance tequired and periodically putnp the septic tank as necessar54 to ensure that the system is in good operating condition and performing as designed, The OWS should require minimal mainter.snce. Several factors influencing the system's health, longevity and need for maihtenance include: actual wastewater flows versus design flows, the volume of kitchenidomestic waste (excluding human waste and toilet paper), excessive use of household chemicals, extra strength laundry detergents and other toxic liquids. The tank, sanitary tees and effluent filter should be visually inspected bi-anirually for clogging debris, damage or leaks. In general, for a properly utilized system, septic tanks should be pumped and inspected every 2 - 4 years. The effluent filter should be cleaned every six months and at the time of pumping. Absorption fields should be maintained with Suitable vegetative cover and kept free of root invasive plants. Positive surface drainage away from the absorption field should be maintained. If you have any question of need any additional information, please call. Sincerely, SOPRIS ENGINEERING,iILLC Field Report of Structural Observations Project Boettcher Residence 4338 I lomestcad Rd. Foundation concrete was complete and hacklilled. framing was 95% complete and log wall construction was 100% complete. 2. .A walk through was done and all exposed framing appeared to be constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications. No discrepancies were noted. 3. Log wall construction was noted to be true and plumb and in accordance with the plans and specifications. 4. An alternate support system was discussed with the contractor for the loft floor support beam. Removal of the support post was approved and shall be replaced with an inverted Simpson 11C*1.US hanger supported off the fireplace header. The header is then supported by a 4" thk. steel bracket bolted to n (4) 2 x 6 column with (8)'W' dia. M.H. 5 Finish grading was not completed at the time of the site visit. Proper drainage in accordance with soils report recommendations VMS discussed with contractor.
