""' RE: AS-BUILT Onsite Wastewater System (OWS) design -Lot 3, Mountain Springs Ranch, Forest Glen Road Garfield County, CO SE Job No. 25109.01 Dear Gentleman: Pursuant to County regulations, this letter and attached drawing provides documentation that the new OWS system recently installed is in compliance with the permitted design. Sopris Engineering has performed site visits to inspect and document the as built conditions of the constructed OWS system. The system was inspected prior to backfilling and after all installations were completed. The as-built size and relative location of the new OWS system components is delineated on the attached drawing. The double compartment, 1000-gallon concrete septic tank system has been installed with inlet/outlet baffle tees west of the house and north of the absorption beds. A two-way clean out has been installed between the house location and the tank. The total as-built absorption area is 3200 SF, utilizing two shallow level treatment/ absorption beds with a perforated pipe array installed in 12 inches of filter sand. The 4" perforated distribution pipes are installed on 6-foot centers across the width of the beds and are connected on both ends by solid 4" header pipes. Additional header pipes are installed at 1/3 and 2/3 distances along the length of the perforated distribution pipe. The average depth of the beds is 1.5 feet as delineated on the approved plan. A distribution box has been installed with 3 individual distribution lines to insure an equal distribution of effluent to the absorption beds. The effluent is distributed and treated in the absorption beds sized to provide adequate dispersal and recovery by absorption into the surrounding native soils and evaporation. The beds have been excavated to accommodate 12" inches of sand and a minimum of 6 inches of topsoil, The distribution pipes are placed with the invert at 8 inches above the bottom of the sand layer. The final backfill includes 6-10 inches of graded topsoil slightly mounded over each bed placed to allow positive drainage away from the bed surfaces. A minimum separation distance of 12 feet has been maintained between the two beds. All slope grading to existing catch grades is approximately 3' horizontal to 1 'vertical. The OWS components have been installed in accordance with State and County ISDS Regulations; the Sopris Engineering Report and the design drawings dated 6/6/05. Additional observations of the soils within the field were performed during construction indicating that the soils are consistent with the reported descriptions. No ground water was encountered in any of the excavations on site. The system and responsibility for repair and maintenance of the system will remain with the Lot Owner. The components of the OWS should be inspected by the contractor within 30 days of being placed into operation and thereafter every six months by the owner. The effluent filter shall be maintained when the tank is pumped or as needed. Suitable risers, lids, component handles and extensions on the tank and filter assemblies will be installed to provide easy maintenance. We recommend a periodic inspection and maintenance procedure be performed annually or as needed depending on use. The fields need to be vegetated with suitable cover to prevent erosion and stabilize the placed fill. The OWS should require minimal maintenance. Several factors influencing the need for maintenance include: actual wastewater flows versus design flows, the volume of kitchen/domestic waste (excluding human waste and toilet paper), excessive household chemicals and other toxic liquids. The tank, absorption field and other applicable system components should be visually inspected bi-annually for debris, wear, damage, leaks, or other potential problems. In general, for a properly utilized system, septic tanks should be pumped and inspected every 2 - 4 years. The effluent filters should be cleaned every six months and at the time of pumping. Absorption fields should be maintained with suitable cover and kept free of root invasive plants. Positive surface drainage away from the absorption field should be maintained. If you have any question or need any additional information, please call. Cc: Tim Holliday \ 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. B. 9.
