The findings of our observations are presented in this report. We previously provided recommendations for a drilled pier design in a report dated March 10, 2017, Project No. 17-7-143 . The pier drilling observations were performed in addition to our agreement for professional services with Nick Daley dated January 25, 2017. The residence foundation was designed by Lindauer-Dunn to be supported on drilled piers in soil areas and spread footings in rock areas of the excavation. The rock was exposed along the west side of the building excavation. Our observations of the pier hole drilling are presented in the attached Drilled Pier Observation Reports . The pier holes were observed to have fully penetrated the alluvial fan deposits and adequately embedded in the underlying bedrock. Based on the previous subsmface exploration and our current observations at the site, the installed piers appear adequate to support the recommended design values and pier load capacities. The findings submitted in this letter are based on our observation of the pier installations, our experience in the area and the previous subsurface exploration at the site. Variations in the subsurface conditions could increase the risk of foundation movement. Our services do not include determining the presence, prevention or possibility of mold or other biological Nick Daley July 10, 2017 Page2 contaminants (MOBC) developing in the future. If the client is concerned about MOBC, then a professional in this special field of practice should be consulted. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office. Pier 16 at southwest corner was not drilled due to very hard rock at surface. Drill rig -Spiradrill The residence will have spread footings bearing on sandstone bedrock at west side and will bear on piers drilled at least 1' into bedrock for rest of foundation. Ten inch diameter piers were changed to 12"per the drillers request. All piers received (4) #5 vertical rebar. No free water was observed in holes and piers will be concreted tomorrow after piers are checked for any caving. Dave with Penley was informed that piers were drilled to proper depths.
