COPY: TERRY MURRAY COPY: S. C. CONSTRUCTION COPY: FOUNDATION REPAIR of WESTERN COLORADO RE: Murray Residence: 439 Westbank Road, Westbank Subdivision; Garfield County, Colorado Our office issued construction documents dated December 08, 201 relative to foundation repairs for the noted residence. These documents specified the installation of eight (8) driven structural steel piers to underpin and stabilize a portion of the residence's foundation. The noted construction documents specify pier locations and the required safe design load each pier is to support. Note that the footprint of the residence is an 'L' shape. The east wing of the residence, which is founded over a crawl space, measures, in plan, approximately 30'-3" north -to -south by 32'-0" east -to -west. The purpose of these foundation repairs was to re -level and stabilize the east wing of the home. The specified piers were installed by Foundation Repair of Western Colorado beginning January 22, 2018, and the piers were hydraulically loaded to lift, re - level and stabilize the foundation on January 23, 2018. I visited the site during the pier installation process, and I have reviewed the "Pier Summary" and "Pier Analysis" provided by Foundation Repair of Western Colorado. I have also discussed the results of the installation process with Keith Dariz of Foundation Repair of Western Colorado. Note that the installed length of four of the eight piers was approximately 10'-0" below the original footing elevation, and the installed length of the remaining four was about 30'-0" below that elevation. It appears that the deeper piers bear on the underlying granular soils, and the more shallow piers intersect a stiff gravel lens. Lift heights were as anticipated: Lift heights varied from 1/2" to 2.1/2". It is my professional opinion that the foundation repairs have been successfully performed in accordance with the noted construction documents. 0 Lop, Kurtz and Associates, Inc.
