Regards, Felkey's From: Andy Schwaller Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2018 10:52 AM To: Karla Felkey Cc: Wade Patton ; Sheryl Bower Subject: RE: Mellin Property Karla, Mr. Mellin has applied for a building permit to build a 3300 sq. ft. single family dwelling with garage. His plans are to also create a large flat area to incorporate the site excavation to date for a future barn and possibly an accessory dwelling unit in the future. We have reinstated the original grading permit and are in the process of reviewing the single family dwelling. We will not issue a Certificate of Occupancy for the house until all the work is completed on the property under the grading permit. We also have tied a renewable 6 month time line to do the work. Mr. Mellin knows that commercial use of the property including equipment and storage of materials not used with the present construction, as well as use of the property for staging for other projects will subject the building and grading permits to be revoked. As with any permitted project in the County, there will be noise and some other impacts during construction. Hopefully the impacts will just be related to the site construction. We will continue to monitor. Please feel free to come into the office to view the approved plans once approved. Please call with any questions. I will start stopping by this week and keep a log. Be careful not to trespass. We can go on the site since he has a grading permit and needs to get along with us. I do not want you to get in trouble on top of everything else. This morning out goes a pre -loaded truck with lumber & rebar then later this morning another truck leaves with an empty trailer that had been parked on site. We will keep our eye out for returning equipment and workers. Felkey's From: Andy Schwaller Sent: Thursday, March 08, 2018 8:05 AM To: Karla Felkey Cc: Sheryl Bower ; Wade Patton Subject: RE: Mellin Property I did hear back from Mr. Mellin. We did discuss his future building permit for the lot being a single family dwelling. We stressed that materials at the site could be only for the project at the site. He said he has another yard to store equipment and agreed not to use the parcel as a staging area. I said we would continue to monitor. Once he has a building permit on the parcel, it gives us additional leverage toward compliance if he does not follow through with his statements. We will keep an eye on the situation. Regards, Felkey's From: Andy Schwaller Sent: Thursday, March 01, 2018 8:46 AM To: Karla Felkey Subject: RE: MeIlin Property A Notice of Violation (NOV) went out yesterday for using the property as a contractor's yard and for staging a commercial operation in a mostly residential neighborhood. The added traffic to the county road was also included. We will continue to monitor and help Mr. MeIlin come into compliance. Thanks for your patience with the process. Felkey's 3 4 5 From: Andy Schwaller Sent: Wednesday, February 21, 2018 2:51 PM 6 To: felkey@sopris.net Cc: Sheryl Bower ; Wade Patton Subject: Mellin Property I took pictures last week and this week. It would appear that the property is being used as a staging area and storage related to a contractor's yard. We will continue to monitor for a couple more weeks. Any additional information you can provide would be added to the file. To some degree, the material on the site should be moved off of the site. New material or the reoccurrence of equipment or material not related to a specific permit is what needs to end. We will communicate this with Mr. Mellin.
