Pernlit # BLCO-5420 Mitch Thanks for your reply to our quest¡ons. lf you are the Engineer of Record on this project you can simply reply via email stating that the roof snow loads comply with Garfield County's 40 PSF minimum requirements which will allow us to redline & approve the drawings we already have in hand. Sorry about the IRC references, and you are right about the IBC allowing for contact between cedar and concrete. lf you can get me an emailtoday addressing the roof snow loads we should be able to issue this building permit. Permit # BLCO-5420 Dave, Thanks for your comments. We willaddressthe snow load in our revised drawings using40 psf roof snow load We did not use the lRC. Since it seemed to not be located at a residence, we used lBC. 18C2304.12.2.2 states that wood posts supported by a concrete footing be of naturally durable wood which I believe includes cedar. I am not seeing where we are required to rest on a post base or extend 6" above the concrete slab. The concrete foundations shown are drilled piers and do not have a separate footing below them. They are a single mass of concrete. Permit # BLCO-5420 Steve I have reviewed plans for Battlement Mesa Service Association's new picnic shelter to be built at 8935 County Road 300 in Battlement Mesa, but before we can finalize our plan review & issue a building permit there are a few items which need to be addressed by the Structural Engineer including: A. Snow Load - Garfield County's minimum snow load requirement is 40 PSF as measured at the roof (not ground as shown on Engineer's specifications. The Engineer will need to verify that design meets our minimum requirement. For reference purposes, the equivalent ground snow load (or Pg) equals 57 PSF for a roof snow load (or Pfl of a0 PSF. B. Foundation - Per 201-5 IRC re quirements foundations supporting wood shall extend 6" above the adjacent finished which is not the case in the design drawings, nor do the 8 x 8 posts rest on a post base. Please clarify detail. C. Footings - Drawings & specs do not indicate any steel reinforcement in the post foundations, nor do they indicate footings below. Please clarify. Please have your Engineer provide us with clarification andlor supplemental information that addresses these questions. ln the meantime, we will place this project in our "pending" projects file. We received updated plans from your Structural Engineer earlier today & have finalized our review and approved for permit. You should be receiving a calllaterthis afternoon about pick-up instructions and final balances due. After you pick up your permit, you will note that one of the conditions is to contact the local fire district to discuss any pertinent requirements. This follows our office's standard practice with all commercial projects, and I have taken the liberty of copying Rob Ferguson on this email so that he can expect to hear from you.
