Colorado COLONY SHALE OIL PLANT SECTION 18 -PROOF OF PERFORMANCE Materials, equipment, and methods of .fabrication, construction or installation shall be based on previously proven performance and experience of the Contractor and/or his suppliers and sub- contractors, and shall be so warranted. The warranty sha 11 cover satisfactory experience with materials of construction, reliability of engineering and design, proven operability and effi- ciency, methods of fabrication, construction or installation, and any other consideration that is pertinent to the objective of proven performance in accordance with this specification. This includes all appurtenances, components and combinations thereof, as well as the primary engi- neered, fabricated and constructed or insta11ed equipment, materjal and methods of fabrication. construction or installation. Braun appreciates that the Contractor and/or his suppliers and subcontractors may decide, at times that a substitute, new development, or untried offering might be an attractive alternative to Braun. This alternative, varying from the existing experience of the Contractor and/or his suppliers and subcontractors, can be considered attractive only after Braun has properly evaluated any and all risks. • If the Contractor decides to offer a substitute or to offer any untried materials, equipment, methods of fabrication, construction or installation, or engineering and design for which neither the Contractor nor his suppliers and subcontractors possess specific experience meeting this specification, then the Contractor shall so state and offer this as a written alternative to his basic bid. The unoroven feature shall be identified. This includes all appurtenances, components and comoinations thereof, as well as the primary engineered fabricated and constructed or install- ed equipment, material, and methods of fabrication, construction or installation. The reviewed shop drawings will i den ti fy Braun' s acceptance of any alternatives dea 1 i ng with unproven performance or experience as covered in the paragraphs above.. The building shall comply with the applicable requirements of MBMA Metal Building Systems Manual, except as herein specified and/or required by authorities having jurisdiction. (b) BUILDING TYPE The pre-engineered buildings shall be Armco truss-frame design S-4 and Armco V-Truss building system gable design and Armco lean-to framing system with Armco Steelox wall and roof panels. All members shall be shop primed with the manufacturer's standard primer. (b) BOLTS FOR STRUCTURAL CONNECTIONS All bolts for field assembly of structural members shall conform to ASTM A 325 or A 490. Design and assembly shall conform to the requirements of the AISC Specification for Structural Joints using ASTM A 325 or A 490 bolts. All main members connections shall be installed and tightened using load indicator washers. Main members are defined as all beams framing into columns and beams supporting a tributary roof area of 600 square feet. Panels shall be roll-formed of 24 gage steel. The roofing panels shall be Armco's 2 inches high standing seams, aluminized steel type 2, Base metal is steel tested in accordance with ASTM A-446 to meet minimum yield point of 48,000 psi, coated by the continuous hot dip method uniformly on both sides with commercially pure aluminum. The coating may be saturated with iron but contains no silicon, Furnish Armco's 20 year warranty with the aluminized steel panels. Roof system is to utilize an interlocking standing seams incorporating concealed fasteners or clips mechanically rolled into standing seams. Clips themselves must be slotted to accommodate expansion and constraction, Fixed clips are not acceptable. Thermal spacers as specified herein shall be incorporated in the system. The roof system shall have a Underwriters Laboratories rating of class 90 for uplift. The siding panels shall be Armco's 3-inch high embossed Flouropolymer Enamel-Duranar 200 panels, Steel shall be uniformly coated on both sides with a minimum G90 weight of·zinc in accordance with ASTM 525, Material shall be tested in accordance with ASTM 446 to meet or exceed a minimum yield point of 37,000 psi. The thermosetting fluoropolymer (resin) enamel shall have a minimum of l mil (.001 inch) thick on the exposed face. Furnish Armco's 20 year . warranty with the Steelox wall panels. The fascia, trim and flashing exposed to the exterior shall be prefinished and shall be Armco Flouropolymer Enamel Duranar 200. (f) FASTENERS Exterior wall shall be fastened to supports with zinc coated screws, bolts and clips located on the inside of the panels. Bolts and nuts shall conform to ASTM A-307 and electro-galvanized per ASTM A-164 with a chromate conversion treatment. No exposed fasteners at the exterior of the wall panels will be permitted. Trim members shall be attached with sheet metal self-tapping on self-drilling screws of stainless steel with weatherseal washers. The insulation and its vapor barrier facing shall carry a underwriters' laboratories {UL label) fire hazard classification indicating a flame spread of 25 or less. Min.6# density per cu ft. Wall insulation shall be fiberglass batts installed in the cavity of the exterior panels. The insulation shall be 3 inches thick. The batt insulation shall be held in place with white extruded hat sections applied over the standing seams to retain insulation. Roof insulation shall be 4 inches thick fiberglass blankets. The roof insulation shall be held in place using Armco's thermal {break) spacer of expanded polystyrene strip conforming to ASTM E-84. The insulation shall be held in ~lace with 16 gage galvanized welded wire insulation support fabric. The wire mesh sag between purlins should approximate the nominal thickness of fiberglass insulation. No oversag is permitted. {h) LINER SHEET Liner sheet shall be Armco's Steeliner and located 8 feet above finish floor at the exterior walls of the buildings and on the gypsum board side at the one·hour fire-rated wall, The liner sheet shall be a electro-galvanized steel 29 gage, 40,000 psi minimum yield, exposed face painted with a factory-applied color coat, nominal 1-mil thick of thermosetting enamel prior to fabrication. Furring devices shall be galvanized steel 25-gage minimum. Fasteners shall be cadimum-plated stainless steel self-drilling screws with color-coated nylon heads. (h) SKYLIGHTS Skylights shall be Armco's flush-faced composite unit consisting of a protective coated steel panel in conjunction with a fiberglass reinforced plastic panel, 16-inches wide with two 2-inch deep ribs, 16 inches on center. The steel panel is perforated and its exterior face is covered with a formed sheet of clear 0.04-inch thick fiberglass reinforced plastic laminated to the steel with adhesive sealant. The insulating pan below the skylight is a composite unit consisting of an extruded aluminum frame with an opaque bottom sheet of 0.06-inch thick fiberglass reinforced plastic panel, factory sealed to the frame. All skylight units are flashed, sealed, reinforced and fastened to the roof to provide a secure and weathertight assembly. Apply each coat at proper consistency, evenly, free of sags, laps and runs, cut sharply to required lines. Apply paint only under conditions that will insure finishes free from blemishes and defects, and only when temperatures are above 40 degrees F and below 90 degrees F, Apply each coat to complete coverage. Allow sufficient drying time between coats. Primer and intermediate coats shall be unscarred and completely integral when succeeding coats are applied. Erection shall be performed by the building manufacturer or erector bearing the manufacturer's written approval. All component parts of the building shall be shop fabricated and finished ready for bolted assembly and erection at the site without modi.fication, except for changes necessary dul:o to unforeseen · conditions at the job site. Base plates, cap plates, ridge plates, stiffeners and similar required features shall be factory welded in place. Splice plates shall be shop fabricated. After cleaning by pickling, fabricator shall hot-dip galvanize steel surfaces in accordance with ASTM Specifications A-123-73. Galvanizing shall be done after completion of all cutting, drilling, forming, punching and welding operations performed in the shop, but before any assembly by bolting. High-strength bolts, nuts and washers conforming to ASTM A 325 shall be hot-dip galvanized in accordance with ASTM Specification A-153 with a minimum of 1.25 ounces per square foot of surface area. Doors shall be provided with a Underwriters' Laboratories certificate of inspection indicating that the construction of the door conforms to the UL specification for a fire-rated door assembly. (3) Slats Galvanized, phosphate prime coated and with interlocking slats. Slats to be of section sufficiently large to give curtain adequate strength to safely resist the specified design wind load, but in no case a windload of less than 20 pounds per square foot. Ends of slats shall be provided with endlocks and windlocks. (4) Counterbalance Curtain to be coiled on a pipe or barrel of sufficient size to carry the door load with a maximum deflection of .03 inch per foot of opening width. (6) Guides Structural steel angles or precision rolled formed channels and angles or formed steel of sufficient depth to retain curtain in guides against. the specified design wind pressure.
