Dear Kate:
Subject: Carport — TBD, CR 100, Carbondale, Colorado
writing to certify that all structures including the residence foundation, the residence carport, the ADU
foundation, and the ADU carport have been designed to the following load conditions per the 2015
International Residential Coad and Garfield County Building Requirements:
• Roof Snow Load = 40 psf.
• Wind Ultimate Design Speed = 115 mph
• Wind Exposure = C
I also certify that I have reviewed the column base detail for the ADU carport and find it adequate to
provide lateral support for the carport, even with the north wall enclosed. Weld columns to base plates
using 3/8" fillet welds all around.
Furthermore, I certify that the construction drawings prepared by me (dated 02/13/2019) are generated
assuming wall enclosures along the north and east sides and a completely open west side. Weld
columns to base plates using 3/8" fillet welds all around.
Sincerely,
Vance V. King, PE
