Subject: Carport - TBD, CR 100, Carbondale, Colorado
Please find enclosed with this letter, the sizing calculations for the carport at TBD, County Road 100,
near Carbondale, Colorado. Also enclosed is a copy of David Rasmussen's email requesting that
these components be sized.
The calculated component sizes are as follows:
• Roof Purlins - W6x8.4 wide -flange sections spaced 48" on -center.
• Roof Beams - W 12x14 wide -flange sections
• Columns - W4x13 wide -flange sections
• Corner Column Footings - 2'-0" x 2'-0" x 0'-10" (WxLxD) with three #4 reinforcing bars each
way.
• Middle Column Footings - 3'-6" x 3'-6" x 0'-10" (WxLxD) with four #4 reinforcing bars each
way.
Bottoms of footings should be 3'-0" or more below grade. An 8 -inch diameter (or larger) pier with three
#4 vertical reinforcing bars should extend from the top of the footing to 6" or more above grade.
