MEMORANDUM
As requested, the following is presented to document prior discussions and process
regarding recommended foundation for the remodel work referenced above:
At our original site meeting on 09-29-17, we discussed structural items recommended to
accomplish remodel goals. I observed the majority of main floor sheathing removed,
to expose original timber floor beams. The grade was also excavated on three sides of
the cabin. The primary load walls on the east and west had concrete pads in-place
(2'-0" x 2'-0" x 1'-0") at frost depth, with adjustable steel columns from pad to timber
walls to shore the cabin. Part of the discussion involved placing a concrete grade beam
over the pads to permanently carry the cabin perimeter.
At our followup 11-01-17 site meeting, we discussed the foundation grade beam as 10"
thick placed over the pads with specific reinforcing, leaving the steel columns in the
pour. This reinforcing pattern was reviewed to be acceptable. SKPE issued a 11-06-17
set, and included this information on the Foundation Plan sheet S111.
