The findings of ourobservations and recommendations are presented in this re,port. The surfaces are supplemental toonr agreement for geotechnical services to Z Construction dated February 15,2019.We previously conducted a subsoii study for design of foundations at the site and presented ourfindings in a report dated March 12,20L9, Project No. 19-7-143. The proposed construction issimilar to that discussed in the previous report. Spread footings sized using an allowable soilbearing pressure of 1,000 psf were designed for support of the building based onrecommendations provided in the previous report. At the time of our site visit, the foundation excavation which was essentially complete had beencut in generally one level about 3 feet below the adjacent ground surface. The soils exposed inthe bottom of the excavation consisted of stifi sandy silty clay. Results of swell-consolidationtesting performed on samples taken from the site, shown on Figure 1, indicate the soils areslightly to moderately compressible under conditions of loading and wetting with a minorexpansion potential when wetted under a constant 1,000 psf surcharge. No free water wasencountered in the excavation and the soils were slightly moist to moist. The soil conditions exposed in the excavation are generally consistent with those previouslyencountered on the site and suitable for support ofspread footings designed for therecommended allowable bearing pressure of 1,000 psf, The minor swell encountered in thetested sample may be due to over compaction of the soils, and can be neglected in the design.Prior to the footing construction, any loose disturbed soils should be removed to expose theundisturbed natural soils. Other recommendations presented in our previous report which areapplicable should also be observed. Z ConstructionIvly 19,2019Page2The recommendations submitted in this letter a¡e based on our observation of the soils exposedwithin the foundation excavation and the previous limited subsurface exploration at the site.Variations in the subsurface conditions below the excavation could increase the risk offoundation movement. V/e should be advised of any variations encountered in the excavationconditions for possible changes to recommendations contained in this letterIf you have any questions or need further assistance, please call our office.Sincerely,Kumar &David A.
