Onsite welding & high strength bolting inspected above was at the steel framing roof level. 1.ne net¿ welding & high strength bolting inspected above appeared to be in substantial conformance with the plans, and the quality requirements of the AWS D1.1 Structural \Melding Code & the AISCIRCSC Specification for high strength bolting. Above inspections included verification of welder qualifications, use of proper welding electrodes/materials, joint preparation (at the beginning of the welding), and a visual inspection of the root pass welds. Note; a final visually inspection of the completed welds should be performed at a later date, as the welding was not completed when I had to leave the site. Also visually inspected fietd fillet welding at tube steel beam connections, bracing connections, and inspected high strength A325 bolting at steel beam & column connections. Welding & bolting inspected above was at the steel framing main/upper floor level to roof level grids 12-20. The field welding & high strength bolting inspected above appeared to be in substantial confonnance with the plans, ffid the quality requirements of the AWS Dl.1 Structural Welding Code & the AISC/RCSC Specification for high strength bolting except as noted below. 1) \Melded steel plate washers had been placed/welded over holes that had to be slotted/oversized to allow for bolt alignment at two of the steel beam connections roof framing. Please veriff acceptance with the structural engineer, as the special inspector is not suppose to approve connection changes.
