Authorlhr. This application for a Building Permit must be signed by the Owner of the property, described abovg
or an authorized agent. lf the sþature below is not that of tte Owner, a separate letter of authority, signed by
the Owner, must be provided with this Application.
LGr.l Acac¡s. A Building Permit cannot be lssued witlrout proof of legal and adequate access to the property for
purposes of inspections bythe Building Division.
Oütcr Pcrmlts. Mulüple separate permits may be required: (11State Electrical Permit, (2) County OWTS Permit,
{3} another permit required for use on the property identiñed above, e.gi Statc or County Highway/ Road Access
or a State Wastewâter Discharge Permit.
Void Pcrmlt. A Bullding Permit becomes null and void if the work authorized is not commenced within 180 days
of the date of issuance and if work is suspended or abandoned for a period of 180 days after commencement

I hereby certify that I have read this Application and that the informaüon contained abore is true and conect I
understand that the Building Division accepts the Application, along with the plans and speciñcations and other
data submitted by me or on my behalf (submittals), based upon my certification as to accuracy. Assuming
completeness of the submittals and approval of this Application, a Building Permit will be issued grant¡ng
permission to me, as Owner, to construct the structure(s) and facilities detailed on the submittals reviewed by
the Building Division. ln consideration of the issuance of the Building Permit, I agree that I and my agents will
comply with provisions of any federal, state or local law regulating the work and the Garfield County Building
Code OWTS regulations and applicable land use regulations (County Regulation(s)). t acknowledge that the
Building Permlt may be suspended or revoked, upon notice from the County, if the location, constructlon or use
of the structure(s) and facility(ies), described above, are not in compliance with County Regulation(s) or any
other applicable law.
I hereby grant permission to the Bu¡ld¡ng Division to enter the property, described above, to inspect the work. I
further acknodedge that the issuance of the Building Permit does not prevent the Bu¡lding Official from: (1)
requiring the conestion of erors in the submittals, if any, discovered after issuance; or (2) stopping
construct¡on or use of the structure{s} or facility(ies} if such is in violation of County Regulatioh(s} or any other
applicable law. Review of this Application, including submittals, and inspections of the work by the Bullding
Division do not constltute an acceptance of responsibility or liability by the County of errors, omissions or
discrepancies. As the Owner, I acknowledge that responsibility for compliance with federal, state and local laws
and County Regulations rest wlth me and my authorized agents, including without limitation my architect
designer, engineer and/ or builder.

ln order to understand the scopê of work intended and to expetlite the issuance of a pennit, it is
important that complete information be prcvided. Please review this document to determine if you have
adequate information to design your project and to facilitate a plan review.
APPLICATION FORil: Please make sure the following information is provided on the application.o Parcel number obtained from the County Assessol's Ofrice.o Job address (assigned physicaladdress). Legal tÞsøiption: block, lot, üact, subdivision, filing, or sec{ion, township and range.o Ownefs name, mailing address, phone, fax or cell.o Contactots name, mailing address, phone, fax, or cell.. Architect and/or Enginee/s name, mailing address, phone, fax or cell.o Building size, height, number of stories and lot size.. Use of building (Residential).. Class of Work (New, Addition, Alteration, Repair, Demo, Movel Relocation).o Detailed desøiption of work.o Type of heating (naturalgas, propane, elec{ric, other).. Sener system (Community or OWTS), also see other iterns below.o Garage (Attached or Detached).o Driveway permit (please see other items belor).r Valuation (labor and materials), see attached worksheet.
OTHER ITEIIS:. lf you ant¡c¡pate obtaining a water-tap from the Crty of Rifle, please provide a letter indicating that
the City will pmvide water service. Requlred to submit buildlng pêrmlt appllcaüon.o OVìffS requires a septic perm¡t application to be submitted wilhthe building permit application.o A separate Eledrical permit must be obtained from the State of Colorado Eleclrical Board.o At the time d building permit submittal, you are required to shor proof of legal and adequate
acæss to the site. This may include proof of right to use a private easement, County Road &
Bridge permit, or Colorado Department of Highway permit, induding a Notice to Proæed. The
County Road & Bridge [Þpartment can be reached at 970€2$8601.o lf you anticipate excavating orgnading priorto issuance of a building permit, you willbe requircd
to obtain a separate grading permit.. lf you belong to a Homeowners Association (HOA) it is your responsibility to obtain written
approval, if reguired.o Provide copies of any Resolutions and/or Land Use Permits associated with this property.o Additional Dwelling Units may require Administrative Review.. A Colorado State Liænsed Electrician and Plumber must perform installation and hook-ups,
unless the homeowner is performing the work.

BUILDING PLAI{S: 2 sets of plans must be submitted. Plans must be 19f,4" minimum size, complete,
identical, legible and to scale. All plans will bE checked at the couriler for completeness. lf any of the
required information is missing, the building permit application cannot be accepted.
SITE PLAI{: Please make sure the following information is provided on the site plan.. PropertV address/legal desciption.r North Anowand Scale on each page.o Shour all property lines, building envelopes, flood plain and easements.¡ Provide setback dlstanæ fom boundaries, buildings, sêptic, well and watèrways.o Location and direction of the æunty or private road and drivaray acæssing the propefi.. Proposed and existing structules. lnclude sheds, bams, decks, pdios, ard any other buildings.o Existing and proposed gnade, positive drainage around struc{urc (to be contained on site).o Streams, rivers, crseks, springs, ponds and ditches.. Existing and proposed uplls, septic tianks, leach fields and otlpr systems (if applicable).o Retaining walls (engineer stamped detail required for rrnalls over 4 fr., measuled ftom bottom of
footing to top of wall).
NOTE; Any site plan depicting the placement of any portion of the structure within 50 feet of a property
line or not within an established building envelope shall be prepared, stamped and sþned by a licensed
surveyor. For strudures to be built within a building envelope, provide a æpy of the recorded subdivision
final plat with the proposed stn¡c{ure located in the building envelope.
ARCHITECTURAL PLANS: Please provide the following information on the architectural plans.o Minimum of four (4) elevations (N,S,E,W). lndicate hei,ght of building measurcd ftom existing
grade to the mirtpoint bet$,een the ridge and eave of a gable or shed roof or to the top d a flat
roof.r Floor plans foreach level, including dimensions and scale noted.o Clearly labeleach room orspace (bedroom, bath, kitchen, closet, etc).o Showthe location of the mechanical equipment.. Building cross sections wilh construciion details.e Wndorr sizes, types and operation noted on the floor plans or elevations.. Specify roof slope/pitch, roof covering and siding materials.o Stair and guard details specifying rise, run, height and spacing.r Attic, roof and crarrtdspace ventilation details. lndicate size and location of ventilation openings.o Minimum insulation shorn forwalls, floors, rooús/ceilings, slabs, basements and crawlspaces.o Proúde stove and fireplaæ make, model, EPA orColorado Phase ll Cartiñcation. depth.o Foundation plan showing complete footing ard foundation dimensions.r Footing and foundation details speciffing reinforæment and referenæd on plans.
o FramirE plans for each floor level and roof. All beams, columns, ioists, rafrers and trusses
specified. Pre-manufaclured strucûures require the engineers stamp, signature and date.o Framing /connedion det¡ails, braced wall lines, shearwallschedule, location and hold dotrns.
NOTE: lf any required information is missing, delays in issuing the permit are to be expected. lf
determined by the Building Official that additional information is necessary to revial the application

and/or plans fur compliance, the application may be placed on hold until the required information is
provided. Work may not pnoceed wittout the issuance of a permit.
The Building Division willcollec{ a Plan ReviewÉe attime of application submittal. The permitfee, as
well as any Road lmpac{fees will be collected when the permit is issued.
The permit application must be sþned bythe owner or by person having written authorig from the own€r
to acil as their reprcsentative.
Building cannot be oæupied until a C€rtificate of Occupancy (CO) ls issued. Using the building without a
CO win bE considercd an illegal occupancy and may be grounds forvacating the premises, (Final/GO
inspection requirements will be attached to your approved field set of plans.)
