Marty, RAM AY ENGONEERBNG, LTD. P.O Drawer 398 Glenwood Springs, CO 81602 970.945.5138 cvww.Tramway.net Per your request, 1 re -inspected the steel connections that were noted as completed during my December 3rd inspection. Some of the items were resolved, while others still remain incomplete. All structural items that were visible and noted have been completed to a satisfactory standpoint and may be covered. Below are the relevant items noted during the December 3rd site visit along with an update of their current condition: 1.) The columns (11018 & 1112A) on either side of the grip bay gondola door do not have adequate thread length. Two bolts in each connection do not have the bolt protruding through the nut as required. One bolt (of the two incorrect bolts) in each connection was removed and replaced with the correct bolt. The second bolt was not corrected because it was recessed into the wall framing and inaccessible without removing some of the framed material. With three correct bolts and one slightly short bolt, the connection will meet the demands of the loading imposed. Phase I — Connection Re -inspection December 9, 2019 Page 2 of 3 2.) Column 1108A is tack welded to the beam above. This needs to be welded with a minimum of 3" of %" fillet weld on either side of the top plate to the beam flange above. The beam appears to have been fabricated without the bolt holes needed for the connection. The column welding was completed as requested. Please prime this weld to protect it from future corrosion. 3.) The upper portion of the grip bay will have several steel connections exposed in its finished form. During our inspection, we noted several connections that need attention to improved finished architectural aesthetics. a. The connection between beam 1211C and beam 1211F as you walk up the stairs to the upper grip bay has multiple bolt sizes in the four bolt connection. This occurs right at eye elevation and will be visible when the structure is completed. I would like to see the bolts changed so they all match. If possible, the bolts should be turned around so the head is visible from the stairs and the nut is only visible from the lower grip bay level. The issue was corrected as requested. b. The bolted connection between upper level beams 1219A and 1219B will also be exposed and have multiple bolt lengths in the same connection. As noted above, these should be changed to a uniform length due to the finished nature of the connection. Correction still pending. This is an exposed area that will not be covered. The connection is structurally acceptable, but needs to be corrected for aesthetics. Phase 1— Connection Re -inspection December 9, 2019 Page 3 of 3 c. If possible, the 5/8" lajune bolts in the grip bay area should be snapped. There appears to be ample room to snap the bolts and remove the TCB nipples. These are marked HT, but due to the finished nature of the connections these would look more professional if snapped. Thomas will be getting the correct socket and snapping these exposed bolts later this week. As noted above, the corrected connections I observed today meet the intended structural requirements.
