Re: Joel Ruiz Residence: County Road 346 (South of Silt), Garfield County, CO. Our office is the structural engineer for the noted project. Nov. 22, 2019 The contractor has requested that the footing to foundation walls dowels be "wet stabbed" into the footings after the footing concrete is placed. In this case, this is structurally acceptable. The dowels should, of course, be pre-bent, and the dowels should be placed in a timely manner so as to create full contact between the dowel and the footing concrete. Any concrete scale that splashes onto the exposed portion of the dowels should be removed with a wire brush prior to placement of foundation wall reinforcement. Kurtz & Associates, Inc.
