As requested, structural steel special inspection was conducted per the IBC 2015
Edition - Chapter 17: Structural Tests and Special Inspection and the Garfield County
requirements. I arrived on site at 11:30 AM. I met with you to review project
requirements and areas ready for inspection. The drawings utilized for inspection were
Mueller, Inc. erection drawings. The Mueller drawing Cl GENERAL NOTES requires
"snug tight" tensioning of the A325 bolting utilized. Drawing El dated 12-13-19 revealed
the area of inspection to be bounded by grid lines 1, 6, A, and D.
High strength bolting inspection was conducted throughout the at the grid lines
referenced above. It was observed that the bolting was comprised of ASTM A325 bolts
fitted with heavy hex nuts. The bolt sizes were 5/8" and 3/4". It was observed that
numerous bolts were under -tensioned throughout the structure. You were informed of the
encountered deficiencies, and you accompanied me during inspection to conduct
adequate tensioning. Upon conclusion of inspection, it was observed that the items of
inspection were compliant with the requirements delineated in the approved project
drawings and the inspection criteria of the American Institute of Steel Construction
(AISC) Research Council on Bolted Connections (RCBC).
