DETERMINE THE USE OR USES OF THE BUILDING

DETERMINE DETAILED BUILDING ATTRIBUTES
• Determine square footage per floor

• Determine height of building in feet
■ Determine height in stories above grade plane
■ Check for basements
■ Check for mezzanines, or confirm areas labeled as mezzanines
• Determine lowest level of fire department vehicle access
■ Determine if building is required to be fire sprinklered or not

I� STEP 17: DETERMINE GENERAL STRUCTURAL REQUIREMENTS
➢ Verify reference building code = 2015 IBC
➢ Verify design snow Toad requirements:
o 40 PSF up to 7000 feet elevation
o 50 PSF 7001— 8000 feet elevation
o 75 PSF 8001— 9000 feet elevation
o 100 PSF above 9001 feet elevation
➢ Verify frost depth:
o 36 inches up to 8000 feet elevation
o 42 inches over 8001 feet elevation
➢ Verify wind speed requirements = 115 mph Ultimate Wind Speed
➢ Verify seismic design category — B or C per IRC, Figure R301.2 (2)
