On October 5, 2020, we visited the site at 878 County Road 227 near Rifle in Garfield
County, Colorado to observe the Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) installation
pursuant to OWTS Permit # SEPT-6282. At the time of our site visit, the owner had installed a
1,250-gallon two compartment concrete septic tank with an effluent filter in the outlet tee, the
new sewer line, distribution box, and the three chamber trenches. The tank and distribution box
were installed level, with access brought to grade. The three chamber trenches consist of 15
ARC 36 chambers per trench, for 45 total chambers for a total STA of 675 ft2. The original
design specified a 1,000-gallon, two -compartment septic tank and 54 Infiltrator Quick4
chambers in three trenches for a total STA of 648 ft2. Since the substitutions result in a larger
septic tank than required by Regulations, and a larger STA than in the design, we do not have
an objection to these changes. In our opinion, this system was installed in general conformance
with Garfield County OWTS Regulations. No further action or review from Garfield County
Environmental Health is required regarding this permit.
