Subject: Sub -excavation and Structural Fill
Provost Residence
Lot 53-B, Panorama Ranches
Garfield County, Colorado
Project No. GS06219.000
CTL 1 Thompson, Inc. performed a geotechnical investigation for the Prov-
ost Residence under this project number (report dated April 17, 2018). An alter-
native that we recommended was to subexcavate the natural soils below the
building to a depth of at least 3 feet and moisture -treat and replace the excavated
soils as densely -compacted, structural fill.
During excavation operations, we visited the site to observe the bottom of
the sub -excavated area below the planned building. Subsequently,
CTL/Thompson, Inc. observed and tested structural fill during placement. In our
opinion, the structural fill is in general conformance with project specifications
and suitable for support of footings and floor slabs for the residence.
We appreciate the opportunity to work with you on this project. If you
have questions or we can be of further service, please call.
Very truly yours,
CTL 1 THOMPSON, INC.

26: The contractor had completed the structural fell placement below
footings and Footing pads. density tests results are satisfactory. A rock
correction was applied to the above density tests.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observations of fill placement and the test results shown above. Test data are not the sole basis for
opinions whether the fill meets project specifications. The contractor is responsible to apply necessary compaction effort and moisture to comply with project
specifications . Our test results, observations and opinions do not constitute acceptance of the work.
