Please direct this letter to the design professional that rated these structures to require a NFPA 13 Automatic Fire Sprinkler System. There may be circumstances I am overlooking in making the following determination. 2. Upon review of the submitted plans, my determination isthat these structures require a NFPA 13R Automatic Fire Sprinkler System, versus the prescribed NFPA 13 system. This determination is based on the following: Overall building height being less than 60 feet above grade plane; Attic spaces are not to be used for living purposes or storage; Attic spaces are not to contain fuel -fired equipment or other features described in NFPA 13R Chapter 6.6.6. If these conditions are met, I interpret the 2015 International Fire Code and NFPA 13R guidance to allow installation of a NFPA 13R system in these structures. If these conditions are not met, or if on further review other conditions that prohibit 13R installation, reconsideration of this determination will be necessary.
