For the hold-down column located in Building 1 of the Buffalo Valley Apartment buildings near the intersection of Gridlines
I & W2 please provide the following:
• Near the top of the (2) 2x6 column where a 2 %" deep notch is located provide a CS20 tension strap with a
minimum 5" lap to either side of the notch.
• Near the bottom of the (2) 2x6 column verify that the 2 1/2" deep notch is located at the midpoint of the nailing
pattern of the MSTCM60 strap. If otherwise, proved a CS20 strap as specified above.

Hi Kurt,
As a follow up, this email confirms the structural guidance provided in response to RFI 009. Please refer to
detail 10/S2.0 for footing step information. Building 2 footing steps along the south wall shall be poured
monolithically with z-bar dowels through the step.

Need a detail approving added steps on footers on Building 2 in locations that were shown on site meeting.
Also added rebar detail was discussed on the thickened footer sections as well as connecting the added steps.

For the east end and around the south east corner of Building 2 foundation several areas of foundation bearing were required to be excavated deeper
per geotechnical requirements. It is acceptable to pour the footings thicker in these areas with top and bottom reinforcement. The additional top
reinforcement shall match the bottom reinforcement. The areas with top and bottom reinforcement shall use z-bars to bring the top and bottom mats
back to a single bottom mat of reinforcement as it transitions back to footings as originally specified.

Kurt,
As discussed, in the areas where the typical FC18 footing needed to be thickened due to field conditions, it is
acceptable to provide top and bottom reinforcing in lieu of the bottom reinforcing specified, with the top
reinforcing equal to the bottom reinforcing.
Also noted today, the revised retaining wall footing FC84 in the north-west corner of the building is acceptable to
be constructed as an FC108.

This email is in response to a request for repair of a footing located in Building 2 of the
Buffalo Valley Apartments. Please do the following:
• The inside corner of the retaining wall footing located along Gridline W8 and at the
intersection of Gridline E shall be extended to the East so that a minimum of 1'-0"
of footing extends beyond the East face of the retaining wall located along Gridline
E (approximately 3'-0" of total extension).
• The width of the new footing extension shall match the existing footing width for the
entire length of the extension (2'-6" from face of retaining wall).
• The reinforcing in the new footing extension shall be as follows:
o #5 @ 10"o.c. TRANSV TOP & BOT
o #5 @ 1 0"o.c. LONGIT TOP & BOT
• All reinforcing shall be drilled and epoxied a minimum of 8" inches into the existing
footing on both sides, top & bottom.

I hope to get well into the shop drawings this week and was wondering if you had a
preference of what you were hoping to see first? I know Building 2 is the priority. Are
you thinking you want the wall shops out first, then floor & roof trusses? Just want to
make sure I'm on the same page as you.

As discussed, the current rebar mats tied in the side basement wall did not meet the
reinforcing specs shown in detail 5/S2.0. The required retrofit is:
• Install additional #4 horizontal bars in between every other existing horizontal to
provide an overall equivalent #4 @ 12"o.c. horizontal layout.
• Tie additional #5 vertical bars inside of the existing mat. Additional #5 shall be
spaced at 16"o.c.
