1. Contractor responsible to coordinate locating all utilities,
potholing if necessary. Call 811 72 hours prior to digging.
Contractor responsible for any and all damage to utility lines.
2. Contractor responsible to obtain all necessary permits and/or
approvals prior to beginning construction.
3. Contractor to coordinate with geotechnical engineer for
recommendations concerning trench stability, safety, and shoring.
4. Maintain 18" separation between any utilities that may need to
be crossed. If 18" can not be maintained notify engineer for
alternatives.
5. The following codes and editions were used:
- ACI Building Code (ACI 318-89)
- Manual of Steel Construction (9th Edition)
6. The contractor sholl verify all dimensions, elevations and site
conditions before starting work and notify the architect and
engineer immediately of any discrepancies.
7. All omissions and conflicts between the various elements of the
working drawings and/or specifications shall be brought to the
attention of the architect and engineer before proceeding with
work.
8. The contractor shall review completely the soils report and
follow all recommendations therein, Design assumes that all
recommendations in the soils report will be implemented.
9. Finished excavation shall be neat and true to line with all loose
material and standing water removed from excavations.
10. Concrete work shall conform to the requirements of ACI 301,
specifications for structural concrete for buildings.
- Minimum strength: f'c = 3500 psi at 28 days.
- Slump: 4" ± 1"
- Maximum water/cement ratio:w/c =0.45.
- Air = 4.0% - 7.0%
- Aggregate: per ASTM C33, maximum 1"
No water shall be added on site which will increase slump to
above 5". Concrete to be mixed per ASTM C94 maximum
temperature in mixer: 90' f.
11. Curing shall immediately follow the finish operation. Keep
concrete continuously moist for at least 7 days using a
polyethylene film securely held in place or an alternate approved
method.
12. Place per ACI standard 614.
13. Cement shall be per ASTM C150, TypeII, low alkali.
14. Submit mix design to architect for review by engineer a
minimum of one week prior to first concrete delivery. No
admixtures containing chloride salts are permitted.
15. Concrete shall not be in contact with aluminum.
16. Rebars: deformed steel, fy = 60 ksi. ASTM spec. A615 grade
60. All rebar bends to be made cold.
17. Reinforcing in concrete placed against earth without forms is
to be supported with approved nonmetallic chairs, or another
method approved by the engineer.
18. Minimum cover on rebar where concrete is cast against earth
is 3" and 2" in other locations.
19. Under no circumstances shall any surface drainage system be
tied and/or connected to the subsurface, foundation, and/or under
slab drainage system.
20. Perforated and solid pipe and fittings to be PVC schedule 40
or SDR -35 unless noted otherwise.
21. Pipe to be installed per manufacturers recommendations and
soils compacted per geotechnical engineers specifications.
22. minimum pipe slope shall be 2.0% for 4" and 1.0% for larger.
