I am submitting this letter as 'Architect of Record' for this project to confirm, verifl', and accept the
construction añd installation of a new 'Roof Eyebrow' located over the Kitchen windorv on the
north elevation of the rssidenc€. t visited the site on December 15 &, 17,2020 to venfu the frarning
conditions & installation
Although a detail was included in the drawings submitted for permit, the installation and
attachment of the rvood brace was not specifically described. The wood frarne is att¿ched to the
existing house on the west rvall with a 4x8 wood beam and a prefabricated wood knee brace (4x8
rvood beam and 4x6 kicker) on the north wall.
The 4x8 wood beam at the west wall (Encloscd Porch) is attached to the existing wall by cutting a
recess in the wa|l and notching the beam to set on the existing wall plate. (2) 3116" x 8" 'Timberlok'
screlvs were drilled through the beam into the plate from the top (notching the beam into the wall
eliminates any uplift issues).
The 4x8 beam at the north wail (Kitchen) is attached to the eústing wall with (2) 3/16" x 8"
'Timberlok'scrsws from the top and angled irto 2x6 wood studs of the exærior wall.
The 4x6 kicker is attached with (l) 3i 16" x 8" 'Timberlok'screw from the underside through the
wall plate and into the 2x6 stud wall (thè kicker was attached to üre wall plate from the backside).
The 2x8 wall plate is notched a¡ound the 4x8 horizontal member for ¿dditional beanng and
anchored to the wall with (4) 3116'x 6" 'Timberlok'scrcrrys-
