Based on the feedback from the engineer we do need to make a correction to the exhaust pipe. Right now our intent would be to extend the pipe to 2' above the adjacent wall. Will you please review and let me know if you feel this will be an adequate correction? Once we are confirmed I will get a crew started on installation right away. Thanks again! The site review was done on January 4, 2021 with Blaine Buck of Bighorn and yourself. The following information on the installation is offered: 1. The heater is a propane -fired unit with a forced draft combustion blower and fire -tube arrangement inside the tank. The heater input is rated at 828,000 btu/hr. The heater appears to be a Category III appliance. 2. The propane piping at the unit includes two, ventless pressure regulators. 3. The flue stack is a nominal 8" diameter flue that rises 20 feet vertically through the roof and terminates at a cap. The IFGC section 506.6.10.3 irrdiLales fur Category II, III, and IV appliances the flue is to be sized per the manufacturer's instructions. Bighorn has confirmed with the manufacturer (Meeker Equipment) that the 8" flue size is correct. 4. The distance from the vent termination above the roof to the adjacent storage building exterior wall is less than eight feet. The code minimum distance per the 2018 IFGC section 503.6.5, item #1 is eight feet, or, per item #2, the flue must extend to a minimum of two feet above any portion of the adjacent building. Therefore, the flue will either need to be offset below the roof to maintain a minimum of eight feet of clearance to the adjacent wall, or the flue must be extended vertically to two feet above the adjacent roof. 5. The area is 1286 ft2 and the volume of the space where the heater is located is 28,292 ft3. The IFGC section 304.5.2 indicates with equation 3-2 the required volume of the space when the indoor space is used for combustion air from infiltration and the appliance is fan -assisted. The known infiltration rate per the IECC and ASHRAE is 1 ACPH and, therefore, based on equation 3-2, the minimum required volume of the space would be 12,420 ft3 and the actual volume of the space is 28,292ft3. Please contact me if you have any questions on the above information. Sincerely, in aD J4atO !Je Shawn Brill, P.E.
