Dear Ms. Stowe
My name is Mark Chain, and I am a planner working with the Carbondale Fire District.
The District is trying to legalize the lot upon which the West End Station, AKA Station 84
presently sits. As you know, that station is at the north edge of the H Lazy F Modular
Park. The purpose is to legalize the lot so the district can obtain a building permit to
construct additional vehicle bays on the site.
There is a hearing set in front of the Board of County Commissioners on Monday, May
18. We sent the notice to your previous mailing address at 1801 Ouray Rd. Between the
time I originally obtained your mailing address from County records and the actual
notice was sent out by certified mail, the official mailing address was changed to your
PO Box in Glenwood Springs.
I am attaching the public hearing notice for your information. Contact me if you have any
questions or wish to discuss. I did leave you a voicemail and if you have a chance to
return the call, I can send you a copy of the notice via email.

TAKE NOTICE that the Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District has
County Commissioners, Garfield County, State of Colorado, to request a Basic Correction
Exemption, (File No. BCEA-02-20-8774). The site is located within Garfield County, State of
Colorado, to-wit:
Leeal Description: A PARCEL OF LAND SITUATED lN GOVERNMENT LOT 21OF SECTION 1",
TOWNSHIP 7 SOUTH, RANGE 89 WEST OF THE 6TH PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN, LYING EASTERLY OF THE
EASTERLY RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF GLENWOOD DITCH, GARFIELD COUNTY, COLORADO, AND BEING
MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
BEGINNING AT A POINT ON THE EASTERLY RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF SAID GLENWOOD DITCH WHENCE AN
IRON POST WITH A BRASS CAP FOUND IN PLACE FOR THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF LOT 20 OF SAID

Practical Description:
The property is located at 5449 County Road 154 approximately 2.5 southeast of the City of
Glenwood Springs and is knownby AssessorParcelNumber2395-014-00-136. Theparcel is located
in Section l, Township 7 South, Range 89 West of the 6th P.M.
Description of Request:
The Applicant is applying for a Basic Correction Exemption to address the legal creation of the
existingl.68-acre lot. The lot has been in existence since 1992 and building permits have been issued
for the fire station constructed on the property. The lot is served by existing water and wastewater
utilities. The property is zoned Commercial/Limited (ClL).

All persons affected by the proposed Exemption are invited to appear and state their views, protests
or support. If you cannot appear personally at such hearing, then you are urged to state your views
by letter, as the Board of County Commissioners will give consideration to the comments of
surrounding property owners, and others affected, in deciding whether to approve, approve with
conditions or deny the request for an Exemption. The application may be reviewed at the office of
the Community Development Department located at 108 8th Street, Suite 401, Garfield County
Plaza Building, Glenwood Springs, Colorado, 8 1 601 , between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,
