Please see Ted's explanation and response below and reach out to me if you need further information. Ted's contact information is also included below. The permit and letter from B&R Septic indicate the existing septic tank at the residence is a 1,25O-gallon, two-compartment concrete septic tank, which per Table 9-1 in the Garfield County OWTS Regulations, is an adequate tank size for a four- bedroom home. However, for a five-bedroom home, which has been indicated is the intended expansion, a minimum 1,75O-gallon tank total capacity would be required. This could be accomplished by either replacing the existing tank, or adding another smaller tank in series with the existing tank between the existing tank and the STA. While the report from B&R indicates the existing tank and STA are in good working order/condition, B & R does not indicate if the existing STA is adequate to handle the additional volume that could be generated by the additional bedrooms. ln these cases, we require the applicant to apply for an Alteration OWTS permit, then require a letter from an OWTS professional that indicates the existing system is in good working order (check) AND that the system can handle the potential increase in loading to the existing OWTS (missing). :G {;irrteti Couyltt, : l'*ltlt, /l¡'t¿ltJt Edward R. It is the originol system Has there been a repair / replacement / amendment to the original septic desígn? lf so, do you know the approximate date and/or SEPT- permit number? 4 The seller specifically soid there were no repairs of the system. Have the owners more recently had an opportunity to hook up to public sewer services? I do not believe public sewers are ovailable at the locotion. When l'm reading through the demolition and proposed addition floor plan, it appears the original home had 3 bedrooms, and the proposed addition increases the bedroom count to 5, is that true?
