Dear Ted:
The purpose of this letter is to discuss our observation of the installation of the Onsite Wastewater
Treatment System (OWTS) for the Appleton Cabin off County Road #312 (Garfield Creek) in Garfield
County, CO. Boundaries Unlimited Inc (BUI) observed the installation of the cleanout, the 1,000-
gallon septic tank, 4ӯ piping, the distribution box and 48 ARC low profile gravelless chambers units
on November 18, 2021.
The tank riser tees and effluent filter installed with an extension handle for the removal of the filter.
The chamber unit rows each required some minor regrading to make them level and cleanouts were
installed at the end of each trench row in lieu of the inspection port detail provided in the design. The
owner was advised to regrade the trenches so that they were more level and reset the chamber units.
After review of the cleanouts in lieu of the typical inspection ports, I am satisfied that the cleanouts will
continue to serve the intended purpose of providing accessibility to each trench for inspection and/or
maintenance. The owner was also advised to rake more of the soil smears off the trench sidewalls
and coordinate with you for a final inspection.
Based on the above site inspections, the OWTS appears to have been installed in general
conformance with the intent of the design and current Garfield County regulations. Please see the
attached asbuilt (based on field gps) and images of the installation.
