Harry and Kathryn,
On June 1, 2021, we visited the residence at Lot 8 of Coulter Creek Ranch near Carbondale in Garfield
County, Colorado to observe the Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) installation pursuant to
OWTS Permit # SEPT-6509. The contractor had installed the 1,500-gallon septic tank, high-head pump,
effluent lines, automatic distributing valve, and five gravelless chamber trenches as designed by CBO,
Inc. Cleanouts were installed as required along the sewer line between the house and the septic tank.
Risers were installed on the septic tank and automatic distributing valve, as required. Effluent lines and
laterals consisted of 1.5-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC. Laterals were zip-tied to the top of the
chambers, with 5/32-inch diameter orifices every three-feet on-center. The first and last orifices on the
laterals pointed down to allow for drainage. All other orifices pointed up. Each trench consisted of 8 ARC
36 chambers per trench (40 chambers total, 600 ft2 STA). The effluent line between the tank and the ADV
was not installed at the time of our first site visit. On December 8, 2021, we received a letter from the
contractor that indicated the effluent pump for the system had been installed, wired, and tested. In our
opinion, this system was installed in general conformance with Garfield County OWTS Regulations. No
further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required regarding this permit.
