Subject: Profile Pits for Septic System, Proposed Residence, Lot 3,'Wooden Deer,
TBD Wooden Deer Road, Garfield Counfy, Colorado
Dear Cathey:
As requested, the undersigned representative of Kumar & Associates, Inc. observed the backhoe
pits on April 13, 2A2l atthe three locations indicated by Deric Walter of Boundaries Unlimited
in the proposed septic field site, north and downhill of the proposd residence. W'e previously
provided a subsoil study dated November 73,2A20, Project No. 20-7-688.
The subsoils exposed in the profile pits consisted of about I to 14 inches of topsoil overlying a
whitish sandy silt with basalt g[avel and scattered cobbles down to digging refusal on basalt
rocks at 4 to 6 feet dee'p. No free water was observed in the pits and the soils were slightly
rnoist. A sample of the sandy silt with basalt gravel soíls was taken from the northern pit for
USDA gradation testing. The gradation test results are attached on Figure 1 and indicate the
soils consist of Very Gravelly Loamy Sand (Soil Type R-l; Option l), The basalt rock soils
below 4 to 6 feet would likely classifu as R-0 soil.
A professional civil engineer should design the se,ptic disposal system.
