Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Note #1 on the Foundation Plan references Hepworth-Pawlak report #IO7O8I8, dated November 26,2007. The design of the footing and foundation was based on 1500 psf for allfootings, unless we encountered dense gravels. lf they had encountered dense gravels for the lower level footings, we could have re-engineered the drawings to accommodate 4000 psf. All of the lower level footings were engineered (3'-4' in width) to accommodate the more restrictive bearing capacity of 1500 psf. Had we encountered the dense gravels for the lower level footings, the footing width would have been 2'-0" in width, and required less reinforcing. Upon observation by Kumar & Associates, it was determined that we could use the L500 psf bearing capacity, of which we re-checked/calculated to make sure our footings and foundation were adequately designed/engineered. Typically, we use the most restrictive bearing capacities when engineering footings and foundations. Unfortunately, the wording of this note should have been more complete and better described. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Respectfu lly subm itted, Èrad-lovdaw Brad Jordan Principal Architect
