With regard to permitting fees, we do not charge a permit fee. ln past projects, I have provided the plans review and approval for suppression and alarming systems. I would be happy to review and sign offon the plans when they are presented. I only ask that the company provide both electroníc and hard copies of the plans for the review process. Dave Argo, former plans examiner, shared a list of contacts íncludíng Robert Ferguson, Fire Chief, Grand Valley Fire Protection District, 0124 Stone Quarry Rd, Parachute, CO 81635, contact {970) 285-9119 and email opschief@svfpd.ors. ls that still the best contact? l'm currently processing two buildíng permit requests in Battlement Mesa subdivision. They are "accessibility" remodels to existing homes originally constructed in 2008 and 2023-. Both are single-unit dwellings. The new property owner is Mountaín Developmental Services, a nonprofit care provider out of Glenwood Springs. They are a non-profit organization that offers full-time professional paid care to persons with developmental disabilitíes They purchased the homes as single-family residences, they will remain single-family residences. Plans are for long-term care of 2-3 residents in each home. Not Transient care stay, long-term care We understand the occupancy and number of residents remains below the threshold the State of Colorado would require lícensure as a "group home". They will occupy and operate homes as a single-family dwelling. ln reviewing Residential Occupancy types from the 20L5 lnternational Building Code, Sectlon 310.5.1 Care facilities within a dwelling. Core lacilities for five or fewer persons receiving care that are wíthin ø single-family dwellíng ore permítted to comply wíth the tnternotianøl Residential Code provided on autamotic sprínkler system is installed in accardance with Section 903.3.7.3 ar Section P2904 of the lnternotional Residentíal Code. ln completing the remodel review, I am proposing to include a required CONDITION TO PERMIT stating: Dwelling Unit must be fire-sprinklered. I am reaching out to you, BEFORE, I deliver corrections and conditions to the client as I hope to abate and alleviate future calls to the Fire District by the Mountain Development Services and their building contractors. When I communicate with the permit applicants, I will cc: the Fire District. Just want to be sure l'm including correct personnel. l've processed several residential permits in Battlement the last couple of years, this is the first project to trígger a fire sprinkler system requirement. And lf I should be incorrect in understanding Fire District boundaries and service area, could you point me to the correct Fire District Chief???
