S cott@mountainbeverage. com RE: Open Hole Observation Main House - 4C Ranch 9023 County Road 312, New Castle Garfield County, Colorado Project No. 22-3619 Dear Brent, At the request of Pat Brown and Jeff Beaumont, Beaumont Excavating, Inc., on September 2l and29,2022, we visited the construction site for the proposed main residence on your ranch - 4C Ranch,at9023 County Road 312, New Castle, Garfield County, Colorado. The pu{pose of our site visits was to observe the soils exposed in the foundation excavations for the proposed main residence and to observe the compaction of the structural fil1by proof-rolling, in accordance with the recommendations of the Revised Soil and Foundation Investigation Report, nnder the same project number, dated August 8,2022. The bench for the foundation excavation was about 40 feet by 70 feet, with an additional 5+ feet on the exterior of the foundation. The foundation excavation was overexcavated four feet for the placement of the structural fill. The soil exposed at the bottom of the foundation excavation consisted of moist, brown, silty-sandy clay with gravel. Around the excavation were large piles of excavated cobbles and large boulders that were excavated from the foundation excavation. The structural fill consisted of an initial, 6-inch layer of minus 3-inch road base covered with the first layer of Tensar TriAX TX140 Geogrid, followed by two, 9-inch layers of minus 3- inch road base, covered with geogrid, another two, 9-inch layers of minus 3-inch road base, covered with geogrid with a final 6-inch layer of minus 3-inch road base. The only equipment available forproofing the compaction of the strucfural fill was Link Belt Trackhoe 210 lx with alarge bucket. 'We observed the compaction test after the fîrst set of two, f-inch lifts were constructed. Photographs and videos were sent to us by Jeff from the P.O. Box 724,Eagle, CO 81631 www.LKPEnginee!¡g.com 4C Ranch - Main House Page2 of 2 October 3,2022 Project No. 22-3619 remainder of the structural fill construction and testing. Soft spots were not observed or reported. The soil exposed in thefoundation excavation is suitableþr the recommended design bearing pressure of 2000 psf We recommend compliance with the recommendations of the above-named soils report during the remainder of the construction, specifically with the sections on drainage, grading and irrigation. This report has been prepared according to locally accepted Professional Geotechnical Engineering standards for similar methods of testing and soil conditions at this time. The findings and recommendation stated above are based on the soil conditions observed and tested in the foundation excavation onIy. There is no other warcanty either expressed or implied.
