Nick,
We were notified that the location of a floor joist’s proximity to the shower drain in the Master Bathroom resulted
in notching the top flange of the TJI. The floor joists at this location are 11 7/8” TJI 360 @ 16”o.c. spanning
approximately 17’-6” and the notch is 4ft from the south bearing location. We have reviewed the joist with a
notched top flange and have found it to be acceptable if the notch is less than 30% of the top flange of the TJI 360.
