[External] Fire Suppression at 16661 Hwy 82 - BLRE-06-21-6945
Simmons Fire suppersion letter for Garfield County 11-12-21.pdf
Good afternoon Sam and Colleen,
The Fire Suppression Sprinklers were inadvertently left on the plans submitted for permitting at the Simmons Resídence
located at 16661 Hwy 82 in Carbondale.
We do not plan to install sprinklers at the residence.
Per my conversation with Sam last Friday, I have aüached a letter from the architect explaining the oversight, and that
we are not installing sprinklers.
Could you please review this information and let me know if a note can be attached to the permit file, or if you require
me to submit a Change Order for this?
Thank you very much for your help - have a great afternoon!
Best wishes,
Andi

Dear Andi,
Per your email requesting a letter regarding the automatic sprinkler system at the
Simmon's project. We inadvertently forgot to remove the fire suppression note on the
cover sheet. lt should have read "lf required by code" and since Garfield County does not
require automatic sprinkers on this project per Ordiance No. 2018-02 Section 903 which
states
Section 903 AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEMS , Subsection
903.2 Where required is hereby amended to read as follows:
903.2 Where required. Approved automatic sprinkler
systems in new buildings and structures shall be
provided in the locations described in this section and
Sections 903,2, 1 through 903.2.12.
1 ln every story of all buildings three (3)
stories or more in height except when it is
required in the 2015 IBC or lFC, the more
restrictive shall apply.
2 . ln every story, basement and mezzanine of
any building where the total floor area
(including basement and mezzanine) exceeds
the limits shown in Table A below:

Since we are under the 7,500 sq feet on this project there is no need for the automatic fire
suppression system noted on the cover.
