Final Acceptance Letter
OWTS Permit #: SEPT -6229
September 18, 2020
Mr. and Mrs. Jeronimus,
On August 24, 2020, we visited the site at 9173 Highway 82 near Carbondale in Garfield
County, Colorado to observe the Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (OWTS) installation
pursuant to OWTS Permit # SEPT -6229. At the time of our site visit, the owner had installed the
new sewer line from the house and the barn, connecting it to a 1,500 -gallon two compartment
poly septic tank with an effluent filter in the outlet tee, followed by a single -compartment 500 -
gallon poly septic tank that is being utilized as a pump chamber. The poly tanks were on the
state approved list of septic tanks. Risers were installed on the manholes of the septic tanks to
provide access from grade, and the tanks had been set level. A cleanout was installed between
the proposed house location, midway between the proposed house and first septic tank, and the
barn and the tank. The owner had also installed the distribution line from the tank to an
automatic distributing valve at the high point of the system, which distributes effluent to the Soil
Treatment Area (STA). The STA consists of five gravelless chamber trenches, with 14
chambers per trench in four trenches, and 15 chambers in the fifth trench (71 chambers total).
Inspection ports were installed at the beginning and end of each trench. The chambers were
installed level on 36 -inches of secondary sand media, with at least 4 -feet between each trench.
In our opinion, this system was installed in general conformance with Garfield County OWTS
Regulations. No further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required
regarding this permit. Please provide an As -Built drawing of the system, when available, for our
files.
Thank you,
Edward R. "Ted" White, P.E.
