ISSUE DESCRIPTION: A 11. 7/8” BCI 6000 1.8 floor joist has been cut to allow passage of a plumbing drain for the fixtures shown in the image in this letter. The cut extends through the joist, and partially through the top member of the double top plate of the non bearing 2x6 wall located directly below the joist. The cut is depicted in this photo: ● 111 East 3rd St. #202 ● Rifle ● Colorado ● 81650 ●970-366-8690 ● RECOMMENDATIONS: I recommend adding two single lamination LVL headers at the cut joist and just severe the member entirely, as depicted in the sketch below. The hangers for the LVL’s would be an IUS1.81/11.88. The I joist that receive the LVL header ends would need to be packed out per the BCI recommendations (see attached sketch).
