At the time of our site visits, the contractor had installed the new sewer line, cleanout, a 1,000-gallon two-compartment concrete septic tank followed by a 500-gallon concrete pump chamber with a high-head pump in the pump chamber, the new pump line, the new automatic distributing valve (ADV), and the 840 ft2 Soil Treatment Area (STA). The septic tank, pump chamber, and ADV were installed level, with access brought to grade. The ADV was set at the high point of the system. An effluent filter was installed in the outlet tee of the septic tank. The STA consisted of five gravelless chamber trenches with 14 Infiltrator Quick4 chambers per trench (70 chambers total). The chambers were installed level with distribution laterals hung from the underside of the chambers constructed of 1.5-inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC. The distribution laterals had 5/32-inch diameter orifices facing up apart from the first and last orifices facing down to facilitate drainage of the laterals. Orifices were drilled along the laterals at a spacing of 2.5-feet on center. The distribution laterals ended in a 90-degree bend with a flushing valve. Inspection ports were installed at each end of each trench. We received a final observation letter and as- built drawing from the OWTS designer dated May 24, 2023, which included the pump start-up letter for the system. In our opinion, this system was installed in general conformance with Garfield County OWTS Regulations. No further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required regarding this permit. Thank you, Edward R. “Ted” White, P.E.
