Garfield County Public Health (GCPH) became aware that an OWTS for an ADU on the property
at 1776 County Road 241 near New Castle in Garfield County, Colorado was installed without a proper
OWTS permit. On February 7, 2023, GCPH issued a Notice of Violation for the unpermitted system,
requiring that you apply for the proper OWTS permit and install any alterations to the OWTS that would
be required to bring the OWTS into Regulatory compliance. On April 7, 2023, we visited the property to
observe the expansion of then unpermitted OWTS to bring the system into Regulatory compliance,
pursuant to OWTS Permit No. SEPT‐7985. At the time of our site visit, the contractor had installed two
additional ARC36 chamber units to the existing trench of 7 chambers. Garfield County OWTS Regulations
require 9 ARC36 chamber units per the proposed use and soil type. The chambers were installed level.
On June 26, 2023, we received the engineer’s letter and as‐built drawing indicating that the system was
installed in general conformance with their design. As such, we believe this system was installed in
general conformance with Garfield County OWTS Regulations. This letter signifies that you have
completed the required elements of the Notice of Violation, and this system is now properly permitted.
No further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required regarding this
permit.
