Wastewater Man./Treatment Plan
The North Hangs Mine will not be served by an existing public collection system and treatment
facilities; portable toilets will be maintained onsite. Therefore, a waiver according to Sections 4-
118 and 4-202.N of the Garfield County LDC are requested.
Wastewater services are not available from the City of Rifle or the Town of Silt. Mining of the
site means an on-site wastewater treatment system (OWTS) is impractical. Portable toilets,
serviced by a contractor, will provide sufficient wastewater systems for employees. Additionally,
these toilets will be removed following mining and reclamation at the end of operation life,
meaning no demolition or close-out of them will be needed.
