On August 1, 2023, we visited the site of the residence under construction at 876 North 1st Street near Silt
in Garfield County, Colorado to observe the OWTS installation pursuant to OWTS Permit # SEPT‐7932. At the time
of our site visit, the owner had installed the new sewer line and cleanout adjacent to the residence, the new
Orenco pump vault with a high‐head pump, the new effluent line, the pump line, the automatic distributing valve,
and the two‐feet deep unlined sand filter. The sewer line and effluent line had been plumbed to an existing
concrete 1,200‐gallon septic tank. The septic tank and automatic distributing valve were installed level with access
brought to grade. An effluent filter had been installed in the outlet tee of the septic tank. The distribution lines and
manifolds were installed level. The sand filter was 12 feet wide by 38.5 feet long (462 ft2 total STA). Additionally,
inspection ports were present at each corner of the bed. We observed a “squirt test” of the system which
indicated the system was functioning properly. Further, we received a certification letter and As‐built drawing
from the design engineer (dated August 8, 2023) indicating the system was installed in general conformance with
the design. In our opinion, this system was installed in general conformance with Garfield County OWTS
Regulations. No further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required regarding this
permit.
