As requested, we reviewed the photos emails to us on September 5,2023 and the
structural plans for the referenced address (Project No. GS06521.000, dated January 28,
2022, revised December 13,2022). The purpose of our review was to evaluate headers in
the living room and provide remedial recommendations deemed necessary. For description
purposes, the house is assumed to face south.
At the south end of the west wall of the living room, the 2x6 header was not installed
due to fit with the height of the window. The window has a glulam beam over it to support
the cantilevered roof. lt is our opinion that the header is not necessary due to the glulam
beam above the window.
At the south wall of the living room, it is our understanding that the opening was
changed from 12 feet to 14 feet and a (3) 1-314" x 11-718" LVL header was installed about the
window. lt is our opinion that the as built framing at the south window is adequate to support
the anticipated loads.
At the east side of the living, the door header was not installed due to fit below the
roof. lt is our opinion that a new flush header should be installed over the door. The header
should be a minimum (1) 2x8 Hem Fir #2 and be installed bottom flush with the roof rafters.
The header should extend a minimum of 3" over the wall framing at each end.
