maximum assumed allowable bearing pressure of 2,000 psf.
Encountered Gonditions
Excavation Condition: We observed the excavation for the proposed th¡ckened edge slab, as noted in photo below, and found dense, clayey to silty
sands with gravel. Based upon our experience and on the IBC presumed soil load bear¡ng pressures in Table 1806.2, this
soil type, at the elevations and time of our observations, likely meets or exceeds the presumed allowable bearing pressure
used in the design. However, the presence of weaker subsurface soil layers resulting in allowable bearing pressure of less
than 2,000 psf cannot be ruled out by surface observations only. Quantitatively veriffing soil bearing capac¡ty generally
requ¡res access to subsurface information and Standard Penetration test data. lf this is desired, we recommend drilling and
data collection be Performed.
