FIELD OBSERVATION REPORT #2
Date: September LL,2A23
Attn: Marty Treadway & Rich Backe
Site visit to review framíng íssues identified by the county building department inspector for the above referenced
project. Atthetimeofthesítevisit,thefollowingobservationsweremadeandarefollowedbyrecommendations:
Observation 1:
¡ Along the west wall line (Grid Line L)the stud packs from three (3) larger windows at the upper level were
not blocked at the upper floor line.
o Along the north wall line (Grid Line B)the stud packs from the small wíndow above at the upper level were
not blocked at the upper-level floor line.
Observation 2:
r Along Grid Line 1, the small window in the Garage has been removed and replaced with two {2}windows
of identical size on opposite sides of the removed window. The new wíndow headers may support the
stud packs from the upper-level windows noted in Observation 1{above}. The new window headers are
{2l'2x6.
Observation 3:
o At the north-west corner of the Díning Room (closet corner) a multiple-stud post has been replaced with
an 8x8 timber post. There is currently a solid block between the top of post and bottom of beam above.
Accordíng to the contractor, there will be a 8x header across the opening to the north of the post, notched
to fit over the post (replacing the solid blocking.
Observation 4:
o At the north-east corner of Bedroom 112, the edge truss has two {2) approximately 1-" diameter holes for
electrical wiring drilled in the bottom chord near the bearing point. The truss appears to have nine (9) nails
connecting the bottom chord to the floor framing rim joist beyond.
Recommendation 1:
r Atthe west wall line (Grid Líne 1), provide solíd blocking below each window stud pack above. The blocking
should have flush bearing on the double wall top plate and snug-tight fit to the bottom of floor sheathing
above.
r At the north wall line, the stud packs for the minor window above are acceptable as framed.
Recommendation 2:
¡ At the two new widows, the double 2x6 headers are inadequate to support the large window stud packs
above. The contractor should add one (1) 2x6 (minimum) header ply to the existing where the stud packs
above occur.

Observation Date:September 8,2023
Contractor:Net Zero Builders (NZB)
Present at Site:Oliver Rice (ESD), Rich Backe (NZB), Marty Treadway (NZB)
Recommendation 3:
¡ The 8x8 post and proposed 8x notched header above are acceptable to support the beam loads above.
Recommendation 4:
o To ensure truss performance, the contractor should attach the edge truss to each stud beyond with
minimum of (1) 16d common nail at top and bottom chords.
