QUIKRETE Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement solves leakage problems wherever active water is present in all masonry and concrete above and below grade. Use QUIKRETE Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement for sealing around concrete pipes and for plugging leaks in structures such as: • Swimming Pools, • Fountains, • Cisterns, • Chimneys, • Foundations, and • Retaining Walls. SIZES • 10 lb (4.5 kg) pails • 20 lb (9 kg) pails • 50 lb (22.6 kg) pails • 4.5 kg (9.9 lb) pails available in Canada • 9 kg (19.8 lb) pails available in Canada YIELD • Each 10 lb (4.5 kg) pail of QUIKRETE Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement will yield 145 in3 (2.35 L) of material. • Each 20 lb (9 kg) pail of QUIKRETE Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement will yield 290 in3 (4.75 L) of material. • Each 50 lb (22.6 kg) pail of QUIKRETE Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement will yield 0.42 ft3 (12 L) of material. TECHNICAL DATA APPLICABLE STANDARDS • ASTM C109 Standard Test Method for Compressive Strength of Hydraulic Cement Mortars (Using 2-in [50-mm] Cube Specimens) • ASTM C191 Standard Test Method for Time of Setting of Hydraulic Cement by Vicat Needle PHYSICAL/CHEMICAL Typical results obtained for QUIKRETE Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement, when tested in accordance with the referenced ASTM procedures, are shown in Table 1. TABLE 1 TYPICAL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES Setting Time, ASTM C191 Final ≤ 5 minutes Compressive Strength, ASTM C109 (Modified) Age PSI (MPa) 2 hours 1000 (6.8) 24 hours 2500 (17.2) 7 days 4500 (31.0) 28 days 5500 (37.9) INSTALLATION SURFACE REPARATION All repair areas should be free of loose material, dirt, dust, algae, and mildew and any paint, sealant, or other non-cementitious coating. Preparation should include enlarging small cracks and holes. Edges must be square or undercut; avoid V-shape cuts. MIXING Mix only the amount of QUIKRETE Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement that can be applied in 2 to 3 minutes after mixing. Add powder to water to blend 4-1/2 parts of QUIKRETE Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement with 1 part potable water by weight, until a heavy putty consistency is achieved. Quickly roll the mixture between your gloved hands to mix. In most cases, limit batch size to 4 to 6 oz (113 to 170 g) of powder. Using 4-1/2 oz (128 g) of powder and 1 oz (28 g) of water will provide a golf ball size mix, which is appropriate for most applications. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION QUIKRETE® Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement is a uniformly blended, properly proportioned mixture of portland cement, graded sand, and proprietary additives designed to instantly stop flowing water from cracks or holes in concrete or masonry. 03 01 00 Maintenance of Concrete 07 11 16 Cementitious Dampproofing DIVISION 3 & 7 2 APPLICATION Starting at the top of the crack and working down, apply QUIKRETE Hydraulic Water-Stop Cement while maintaining light pressure on the patch. Maintain pressure until initial set begins and the leaking is stopped. If more than one application is needed to fill the active leak, each application must be made before the prior one has set completely. Excess material can be removed to form a smooth surface. CURING No special curing methods, such as membranes or compounds are required. PRECAUTIONS • Mix no more than can be placed in 2 to 3 minutes after mixing. • Hot temperatures will reduce the setting time. At colder temperatures, below 50 °F (10 °C), use warm water. • Product is only for use to fill active leaks in cracks or holes; it is not for application to flat surfaces. Not for resurfacing or coating a wall. • If more than one application is needed to repair the active leak, each application must be made before the prior one has set completely. • When making repairs, good color matching can be difficult. Preview a small quantity of the material in an inconspicuous area and allow it to cure before evaluating color and overall appearance. • This material is reactive and may degrade unpainted aluminum.
