Box 724, Eagle, CO 81631 www.LKPEngineering.com September 8, 2022 Pete Waaraniemi COO and Vice President Janckila Construction, Inc. 40 Sunset Dr. Ste. 3 Basalt, CO 81621 pete@janckilaconstruction.com RE: Open Hole Observation Greechan and Niiranen Residence Lot 38, Cerise Ranch Subdivision, Phase 2 480 Larkspur Drive, Carbondale Garfield County, CO Project No. 22-3644 Dear Pete, At your request on August 25 and 31 and on September 1, 2022, we visited the construction site for the proposed Greechan and Niiranen residence on Lot 38, Cerise Ranch Subdivision, Phase 2, 27 Larkspur Drive, Carbondale, Garfield County, Colorado. The purpose of our site visits was to observe the soils exposed in the foundation excavations for proposed residence and compare them with the findings and recommendations of the Soils and Foundation Investigation, under the same project number, dated December 9, 2020. The foundation excavation consisted of benches and perimeter trenches. The cuts ranged from about two feet near the southwest corner of the excavation to about 8 feet on the north (back) side of the excavation. Due to heavy root pockets encountered in the excavation additional trenches were excavated to get below the unsuitable soil. The soil exposed in the bottom of the foundation excavation consisted tan, gypsiferous-calcareous, silty-gravelly sand. Loose soil in the trenches and pads must be removed prior to concrete placement. Soft spots were not reported. The soil exposed in the foundation excavation is suitable for the designed maximum allowable soil bearing pressure of 1500 psf. We recommend compliance with the recommendations of the above-named soils report during the remainder of the construction, specifically with the sections on drainage, grading and irrigation. This report has been prepared according to locally accepted Professional Geotechnical Engineering standards for similar methods of testing and soil conditions at this time. The findings and recommendation stated above are based on the soil conditions observed and tested in the foundation excavation only. There is no other warranty either expressed or implied.
