We visited the property at 565 Faranhyll Ranch Road (a.k.a. Parcel #4,
Faranhyll Ranch) on November 8, 2021. The purpose of our site visit was to observe
the footing subgrade soils in the foundation excavation for the accessory dwelling
unit (ADU). Photographs from our site visit are attached.
CTL I Thompson, Inc. performed a geotechnical engineering investigation for
the 565 Faranhyll Ranch Road project (Project No. GS06572.000-120; report dated
July 1, 2021). Our report recommended that the soils below the buildings be subex-
cavated to a depth of 3 feet below bottom of footing elevation and replaced as
densely -compacted, structural fill. Our representative tested moisture content and
density of the structural fill during placement. The structural fill was placed in general
conformance with project specifications.
Based on our field data and observations, we judge the structural fill is suita-
ble for support of footings designed for a maximum allowable bearing pressure of
3,000 psf. The structural fill soils should be protected from precipitation and freezing
prior to placing forms for footings.
We are available to discuss the contents of this letter. If you have questions
or need additional information, please call.
