On December 21 and 31, 2021, we visited the site of the Dixon Residence at 2395 County Road
113 near Carbondale in Garfield County, Colorado to observe the OWTS installation pursuant to OWTS
Permit # SEPT‐7272. At the time of our site visit, the owner had installed the new sewer line and
cleanout adjacent to the residence, the new concrete 1,500‐gallon two‐compartment septic tank with a
high‐head pump in the second compartment of the tank, the new pump line, the Automatic Distribution
Valve (ADV), and the unlined sand filter bed. The septic tank and ADV were installed level with access
brought to grade. The ADV was installed at the high point of the system. The distribution laterals were
level and placed directly on the gravel over the minimum 2 feet of unlined sand filter material. The bed
measure 12 feet by 62.5 feet for a total STA of 750 ft2. The distribution laterals ended in a sweeping 90‐
degree ell with a ball valve to allow flushing of the laterals. Additionally, inspection ports were present
at each corner of the bed. GCPH received an As‐Built drawing and letter from the system designer, dated
January 2, 2023 stating that the OWTS was generally installed according to specifications. The letter also
included a pump start‐up letter dated January 5, 202 that indicates the system was started properly. In
our opinion, this system was installed in general conformance with Garfield County OWTS Regulations.
No further action or review from Garfield County Environmental Health is required regarding this
permit.
