Dear Ted:
The purpose of this letter is to discuss our observation of the installation of the Onsite Wastewater
Treatment System (OWTS) for the Massey Residence at 999 Wooden Deer Road in Garfield County,
CO (Lot 3 Wooden Deer Subdivision). Boundaries Unlimited Inc (BUI) observed the installation of
the cleanout, the 1,000-gallon septic tank, 4ӯ PVC piping to a 1,250-gallon septic tank with
inlet/outlet tees and an effluent filter, a 500-gallon dosing tank with a float dosing pump arrangement,
and 1-1/4ӯ PVC piping to the absorption field which contained 48 ARC low profile gravelless
chambers units on October 16, 2023.
The installed tank configuration (1,250-gallon septic + 500-gallon dosing) is an acceptable deviation
from the design plan which called for a single 2,500-gallon three (3) compartment with a dosing pump
arrangement in the 3rd chamber. This is because the single tank design was slightly oversized based
on the sizing requirements for combined septic/dosing tanks. As installed, the float elevations in the
separate 500-gallon dosing tank can continue to be set by the pump installer to provide the design
dosing size of 30 gallons per dose.
Based on our inspection, the OWTS appears to have been installed in general conformance with the
intent of the design and current Garfield County regulations. Please see the attached asbuilt (based
on field gps) and images of the installation.
